Holy Week is big for worship leaders, pastors, and church leaders.
Easter Sunday is foundational, as the church celebrates the resurrection.
But what about the week and Sunday after? With all the energy and push toward Holy Week and Easter, the Sunday following can slip through the cracks.
But without adding too much pressure to your standard systems, here are some thoughts about the week and weekend after Easter:
Breathe On Monday
Schedule some downtime. I love having Easter Monday off. It should be a holiday for all church leaders and offices! Taking that time to rest, reflect, and spend time with family, as much as possible, is great for worship leaders and church staff.
Execute Follow-Up Systems
Put a priority on your follow-up systems. Thank your worship team. Send notes to those who helped with Holy Week Services. As needed, assist in following up with new folks from Easter.
Make Next Sunday Excellent
This might be the biggest job – make next Sunday great! Do your best to match Easter. If you typically have a limited number of musicians, but went super big for Easter Sunday, add some extra people or special components to your team this week (in fact, some people think you shouldn’t add too much extra stuff on Easter Sunday that can’t be duplicated on a regular Sunday for this reason). For at least the Sunday right after Easter, make sure you have put in the effort to plan the team, music, and something special to continue engaging guests who may come again and keep the celebration going. Sing one of your Easter songs. Tell a story of something that happened during Easter celebrations.
Then, if you’re planning some time away, do it a couple of weeks after the Easter season.
Praying a blessing on you and the ebb and flow of worship ministry during these awesome high points in the church.
